More than 120 members and guests celebrated the 40th anniversary of the opening of the indoor bowling green at the Norfolk Bowling Club in Unthank Road, Norwich, with an evening of entertainment. Originally built as a six-rink venue, the club was enlarged in the 1970's to seven rinks, to cater for an increasing membership. A new lasar-levelled floor was installed in 1994, which has resulted in the green being one of the best surfaces in Norfolk. With an overall membership of nearly 700 the club offers a range of activities from bowling to snooker and whist drives, as well as hosting touring sides and Norfolk county matches. A thriving junior section is producing a number of very promising players. Currently sponsored by logicalfrance.com, the club welcomes all potential new members.
